Recently, in a remote Indigenous village in Costa Rica, there was a small piglet tied to a post of the home we were visiting. At first I didn’t see him, because he was so small, and quiet; but he squealed up a storm when being moved to a different spot to forage. Fear? Protest? Joy? I didn’t know how to discern any of it.
